Address: 146 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby
The vibe: An island vibe with wait staff who were dressed as though they were serving cocktails on a beach in Fiji. Very quirky and not your traditional Chinese restaurant.
We loved: The steamed buns with roasted pork belly and pickled cucumber were exceptional. The meat was moist and tender, and crackling even featured. If you’re a fish lover, the kingfish carpaccio dish was fantastic and consisted of nashi pear, smoked beetroot, rocket and kimchi sour salts. The flavour combination worked really well and the dish was the pick of the table.
What could be better: Acoustics. If you struggle with your hearing you may find it challenging on a busy night. We also thought that the wok fried black tiger prawn dish could have done with some additional seasoning, or a sauce.
